Dayboro
Back to reality for us.....we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday! Still raining here as it has been for the last 3 weeks....the garden looks fantastic, thanks to our wonderful house sitters Dennis & Lynnie.
We are both having awful trouble recognizing which duck is Francis....she is as big as Freddie & Frieda.....has grown heaps in such a short time! Guessing Francis is on the left!

Rosebud Mornington Peninsula
Today we followed the road less traveled from Inverloch through the town's of Wonthaggi, Kilcunda, Grantville, Hastings, stopping at Balnarring where we found these pretty reeds on the side of the road, plus great lunch at a one stop shop for everything in the middle of no where! All the way hugging the coast road to Flinders, then across to Rosebud. Rest now!

Bruthen to Sale to Port Albert
We drove to Bruthen a pretty rural town west of Lakes Entrance where Pat Aker's ancestor's settled when they came to Australia. From here we stopped in Sale for lunch overlooking Lake Guthridge when this water fountain came on....unfortunately I left my lens cover there!

Lakes Entrance
Panoramic view looking west along the Mitchell River silt jetties, with Lake King on the left. |
Mitchell River silt jetties, looking from the south bank towards the north bank, with the Mitchell River in the foreground and Lake King in the distance. The rocks lining the banks have been placed to prevent erosion. I sourced this information from Wikipedia The Mitchell River silt jetties[1] are an unusually long, thin landform located in the Gippsland Lakes region in Victoria, Australia. A type of digitate delta, they have been formed over millions of years by sediment deposition from the Mitchell River during periods of low water flow and subsequent wash-through during periods of high water flow. The long narrow banks of silt thus formed extend more than eight kilometres east into Lake King. The south bank is navigable by car from Eagle Point through to the very easternmost tip at Point Dawson. |
